Incheon IT companies achieve US$ 17.2 million worth of export consultations in Dubai

The Incheon IT Promotion Agency (President Sung-kap Cho, www.iitpa.or.kr) announced that companies it has selected to participate in the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition 2011 (GITEX 2011) for five days from October 9, recorded a total of 583 export consultations worth US$ 17.2 million.
GITEX 2011 provided the opportunity for thirty IT companies from Incheon, Gangnam, and Suwon, Korea, to showcase new Korean IT technology in Dubai and build the foundation for IT exchanges with the Middle East and Africa. As the largest exhibition on information and communication of the Middle East and Africa, not only do companies from the vicinity but also manufacturing companies from the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France and other European and Asian countries, participate.
As the world’s top exhibition specializing in IT alongside CEBIT of Germany and CES of the United States, many CEOs and procurement officers of major IT companies of the world as well as people working in the business participated in this year’s exhibition. Major exhibited products included network and security related products, IT solutions, office automated machines, products related to information and communication and household appliances.
The Incheon IT Promotion Agency selected five promising exporting IT companies from Incheon to participate in the exhibition together with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA).
Sky System (Representative Bum-Woo Nam), a company specializing in the manufacturing of Digital Information Display (DID), showcased a transparent DID product where one can view both the DID screen and the actual product on one screen drawing the attention of buyers not only from the Middle East and Africa, but also other exhibiting companies.
Many buyers visited the Sky System’s exhibition booth and it signed an MOU with a Middle Eastern buyer, 4N Telecommunication, for the procurement of DIDs. The two parties further decided to deliberate for a contract of 1,000 DIDs of 55 inch monitor type (worth US$ 2.5 million).
DEFIM, a Moroccan company, is expected to place an order for five transparent DIDs (worth US$10,000) and plans to place orders for more after investigating the response of the Moroccan market. In addition, CI2, a company from the Arab Emirates, also consulted for the supply of 50 monitor type DIDs (worth US$150,000) for a project of building a CCTV surveillance room in a public organization.
Viva Korea (Representative Jae-hak Yim), a company specializing in CCTV cameras and DVRs, was proposed by several companies from the Middle East exclusive sales rights of its CCTVs. In particular, Hawler Tech of Iraq asked for the supply of 2,000 CCTV cameras (worth US$ 440,000) for their installation in the surveillance rooms of the police agency.
Yujin System (Representative Sang-jung Shin), a company specializing in security equipment, was asked to supply 384 wide-range CCTVs (worth US$ 1.5 million) necessary to survey an oil company from Parssaman and plans to deliberate with the procuring company on future orders.
MPD (Representative Sang-geun Lee), a company specializing in optical axis cable connector and termination parts, was presented with a price to purchase communication connectors necessary for companies related to constructing building communication systems of the Arab Emirates such as Time Dimension and INTELTEC. The company plans to negotiate on the price for their supply.
Ppyple (Representative Sang-sin Kim), a company specializing in smart phone active cases and smart stands, showcased its products for the first time in the Middle East. Customer response to its products and the market for active mobile peripheries were favorable and many buyers from the region presented offers for exclusive sales rights to its products and transactions. In addition, Samsung sole distributors (Middle East, Africa) asked it to supply products worth about US$ 500,000 in line with the expansion of the accessory market related to Samsung mobile devices.
Response from local buyers for the products of the five companies participating in the exhibition was highly favorable and the companies deemed it highly possible to open new sales routes. The companies have expressed their desire to continue participating in future GITEX exhibitions and from which they expect to achieve much.
The Incheon IT Promotion Agency will follow up with the trade officer of the Dubai office of KOTRA to share the list of local companies and buyers in order to help participating companies achieve much.
