41 years since completion of Kyeong-bu Express Way, well-known for its remarkably shortest period of construction (two and half years) and smallest expense ($100,000/Km), Korean road construction technology has advanced to ITS (Intelligent Transportation System) combined with IT which is one of the leading industries in Korea. With ITS, now it’s time to begin another take-off by expanding its road construction business to the world, mainly in Asian region.

International Road & Traffic Expo 2011 (ROTREX 2011) is going to be held from October 18 to 21 in KINTEX, Gyeonggi province in Korea. It has already become one of the most famous traffic exhibitions with its gradual growth.

Expansion & Advancement

With its 4th open, ROTREX 2011 is expected to expand 30% more (200 exhibitors, 600 booths) comparing to the last one in 2009. ROTREX Secretariat is encouraging public institutions, local governments and state-owned companies including Korea Expressway Corporation to participate in to promote business in the venue. Moreover, it will support companies who are seeking overseas business opportunities by commissioning KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency) to invite buyers in the overseas public sectors.

Specialized Concurrent Events

Korean Society of Transportation, one of the nation’s largest expert groups, will hold its annual symposium at the venue of ROTREX 2011. Besides, a technical seminar on ‘Bridge & Structure’ by KRTA (Korea Road & Transportation Association) and a presentation on ‘Legal system for new technology’ by KICTEP (Korea Istitute of Construction & Trasnportation Technology Evaluation and Planning) will be held to provide essential information, trends and issues among the industry.

Aggressive Overseas Marketing

ROTREX Secretariat is fully using the support from KOTRA for the purpose of overseas promotion and attracting overseas buyers. It also met the organizer of ‘Intertraffic Istanbul’ in Turkey on last May and agreed on mutual promotion between two exhibitions. Furthermore, the secretariat attended 9th EASTS (Eastern Asia Society for Transportation Studies) held in Jeju Island in Korea and had public relation activities.

A project manager of ROTREX 2011, said “This exhibition well reflects the rapidly changing and growing road and transportation industry. It will be an ideal place for the domestic companies to expand their business to overseas based on their accumulated know-how, engineering skills and IT.”
